Bio

Chung-Chi Chen is currently an Assistant Professor at National Institute of Informatics, Japan. His recent research investigates how large language models and agents mediate communication, reshape human decision-making, and influence society. He is particularly interested in LLM-mediated communication, the social impact of agents, human-agent collaboration in high-stakes settings, and the detection and verification of forward-looking exaggeration and misinformation. His earlier work centered on natural language processing and information retrieval for high-stakes domains, including finance, law, and social science. Across these areas, he has worked on forward-looking argument mining, financial text analysis, legal technology, expert decision support, and evaluation frameworks for language technologies used in consequential contexts.

He is the founder of ACL SIG-FinTech and has organized the FinNLP/FinWeb workshop series at leading international conferences, including IJCAI, WWW, EMNLP, and IJCNLP-AACL. He has also led the FinNum and FinArg shared task series at NTCIR, delivered tutorials at major conferences such as AACL, EMNLP, ECAI, and SIGIR, and served the research community through roles including Program Co-Chair, Senior Area Chair, and Program Committee member.

He is the recipient of the SIGIR Early Career Researcher Award (Excellence in Community Engagement), along with multiple thesis awards and a technology innovation award. Beyond academia, he has actively engaged in FinTech and LegalTech, earning several awards from startup, FinTech, and LegalTech competitions.
